I put a deep nasty scratch while trying to tie to dock. Is there a way to fill it in or repair it?

Yes this is what you do : 1. Buy beer 2. Drink beer 3 . Forget about scratch
4. Repeat step 2 repeatedly and step 3 will become much easier

Did you scratch just the gel coat or are you into the fiberglass? If you've just scratched the gel coat, rubbing compound will get rid of it like it was never there.

I have gold flake in my aluminum Lund which is likely different. After applying paint with an airbrush I used a rubbing compound. Wrong, the flake all comes to the surface and only slight rub takes it out. The bad looking area kept getting bigger. At last it was two inches wide and eight inches long when on my fourth try I got s near perfect application. You have to be inches from that scratch to find it now. I got that scratch years ago, but it was only the second day that I owned the boat.

Lincoln, kinda...
That's one nice thing about having a beat up old Lund. It'll not look any worse after the next couple years of me teaching the kids how to drive and dock it.

Well, they've been driving already for a couple years, but mostly out in the middle of deep water with nothing to hit but waves. Maybe I'll have to hold off on upgrading until the kids are out of the house.
