I always like this teams videos, gotta love the orange vest! I believe one of those hotrod reflashed 620s comes flying by in this one as well at 1:35.

Yep, the boat on the right side is Gary Cayko's. It is a remapped 250. He claimed it wasn't remapped for the first couple years, but now the cat is out of the bag.

Speed is fun but until they hand out a check for the fastest boat I'm not worrying about it. I can do 53 tournament loaded. :;:smokin

Speed sells new boats. Boat sales fund sponsorships. Rarely do you hear at a boat show (or see in a thread here for that matter), "How does this thing track a shoreline with a 15MPH crosswind?" or, "How much wind before a 60" shaft bow-mount is coming outta the water?". Everybody however wants to know, "How fast is this summbitch?"

Good point SDMF.
You jackplate a giant motor off the ass of a walleye boat and it doesn't take much chop before you were wishing you had an 80" shaft!

No jackplate but if I were buying a brand new boat today, it'd have the new 72" shaft. The best trolling motor/boat combo I ever had was a 65# AutoPilot w/60" shaft on a 1978 Lund Mr. Pike.

So I got a "new" boat and finally got it out to play/fish the other day. 1990 Skeeter S-130 with a 75hp Merc tiller. First thing, the boat pulls HARD left when on plane with motor trimmed all the way down. Trim up and the problem mostly goes away. Is there a "fix" for this other than trim? Second, top speed by GPS with two guys, full live well, full tank of gas was 27mph. Does this sound about right? Again, I know I need to learn to play with the trim more. I don't know a whole lot about boat performance.

Left arm bicep curls. then you can tell people the real reason why your left arm is bigger than the right.

Whats the trim tab on bottom of the cavitation plate look like? Should be kicked to the side a bit.

2012 ranger with 225 pro xs with ecu mods, I can get 62-65 with half tank and one other guy but rarely do. I'd like to know if someone can tell me if the $1000-1500 price for a hyd jackplate is worth it? I use my boat for recreational fishing and skiing, tubing and kneeboarding.

Bigger question is what is your boat rated at for HP? This will add a ton more stress to the transom as it kicks the engine back another foot or so.
Some boats can handle it some require transom mods and reinforcement to handle it if it can be done at all.
Best would be to check the boat mfg to see what they say about it. I know from having friends who have added them that some mfgs actually sell a transom reinforcement kit to either handle a jack plate or a bigger engine.

Boat mfgs are in limbo right now with the fast advancement of smaller light weight high HP engines, they used to build transoms for the weight of the max size engine but now the HP of the new engines is overtaking the need for stronger transoms vs the weight and have got the mfgs behind the 8 ball tying to keep things strong enough for todays smaller high hp engines.

1982 lund with1982 50 HP Merc. 28 MPH WAO. I'd like a newer Yamaha like LBrandt , I can burn 20 gallons of gas in a weekend pretty easily. Maybe I need a tune up ?
