Hunting 'Unposted' Private Land

GNF had to talk the asshole out of pressing charges against the two kids. $350 fine and loss of hunting/fishing/trapping privs for one year. Thats a low blow!

Is loss of hunting privileges automatic in this situation? Do they first need to be convicted of illegally trespassing before losing privileges?

I apologize for thinking your were projecting your feelings. I have no problem with anyone hunting the public land or using the law to get there. As I said sometimes a heads up is nice that someone is walking through mine which isn’t open country for a lot of it so not easy to see someone all the time to get there to hunt. A lot of people have contacted me and some don’t and that’s fine there is nothing that says they need to. I would more so be concerned about someone retrieving wounded game which could put them anywhere on the property and I really feel that is where a heads up should be warranted and more beneficial. I’ve never said no to those that have asked about retrieving deer in fact a lot of times if I’m around I’ll help them get to them. I think this has spiraled downhill a lot and unfortunately with a lot of things hunting I don’t see it getting any better.

Kids don’t own land. Guy takes his kid out and he hits his first buck a little low and it dies in the next pasture. Dad calls the owner and old man Scrooge just happens to answer and chews his ass. Dad and kid have to walk away with the buck in sight. Some guys are never going to own land. Some don’t want to bother anyone or be bothered. One more thing to make them hang it up. The rules in place work just fine for everybody.

I agree, no more laws are needed. Rarely do laws seem to actually benefit the most anymore and not just the loudest criers. I don't agree with weaver that there needs to be a law, dad always said locks only keep the honest people out. A lot of me discussing in this thread is something thats happened to me and me pointing out how no knowing someone is on private land without knowledge can pose some issues. I will be blatantly honest and say generally it's not the people i don't know who cause issues for me as a landowner it's the ones i do know and they think "oh he won't care".

1. Walked a section line to get to public land - no issues
2. Retrieving game on road right away - my experiance is most of them were shot from road right away - in others shoot and be fast retrieving.
3. Public land - IMO less people actually walk in Most sit on the road and wait for me to push one to em.
4. Full permision to hunt a relatives land and sure enough the neighbor comes and says you cant hunt this and that no my relative does not own this - gets me off the land - then i call and find out no its the land that i was given permision to hunt.

If you ever have an issue where you are getting a "NO WAY" from a land owner to legally retrieve your downed game, just call the Game Warden. Simple as that

This thread is nothing more than a BIG WEDGE between landowners and outdoors people(hunters, fishermen, photographers, hikers, etc.). The law is the law...except is as it is. Tresspass for retreival is a legitamet solution for both sides, with the law definig the limitations. Quit the bitching on both sides of the fence...pun intended!

Incorrect. This thread is someone coming here with a very isolated issue and or sent here by a group with an alternative motive or to create an issue where there isn’t one. Most here rejected the very idea and notion brought forward including many of landowner/members in this board and I’d say a lot was accomplished in hammering down the message of being respectful on both sides of the issue and we will all be just fine
