Oh, I wouldn't be surprised at all if she didn't write it, but had instead commissioned it.

And then didn't provide proper oversight as to its contents.

Note, the above is even more egregious to me. I have no idea if I would have shot the dog, but I absolutely know I would provide a very close review of any such writing about my life.

It takes a cold blooded person to shoot a pet in the face, let alone brag about it in a book for attraction. I bet Iv'e dispatched more pets than most here on NDA and I've never felt inclined to even talk about it let alone put myself high up on the pedestal for doing it.

Then you know they don’t valiantly look away from you. They’re often sick and distressed and keep their eyes on you. If you get lucky and they’re looking away, it is for your benefit, not theirs. Dead is dead.

If Royce was in need of it I could do it. I’d cry like a baby and be very angry I was forced to do it, but it would beat him suffering.

Even a vicious dog would be hard to shoot in the face. I'm not saying she shouldn't have put it down but it's not something the world needs to hear. Having to do the tough job and doing it yourself is commendatory but its something to be humble and discrete about too.

Rokslide had a big thread on this. If it was an emergency situation like getting hit by a car or something could i do it. Maybe i dont know even knowing if its the right thing till Im in that moment. I have taken two dogs into the vet and its pretty much the worst thing ever but sitting by there side till they take the last breath is owed to them i feel. Even if it is the right thing to do its still not easy

agreed w/ the vet thing. absent emergency or being so poor you can't afford $75-100, seems like the humane thing to do. honestly, i am wondering if its even true at this point. also, the kim jung un thing seems absurd too. me's starting to think this entire book was a bad idea. nothing about this entire thing has shed her in any sort of good light imho.

We only had one dog that would ride in a vehicle the rest were terrified of getting in a vehicle.

The only time I ever forced a dog to go for a ride was to go to the vet to get spade, she shook like a leaf the whole time and she was never the same after that. The trauma lasted till she took her last breath she would just shake like she was having seizures or something . Hunting dogs or dogs that love to go for rides, I'm still not sure I'd take them to the vet. To me it seems more humane to take them for one last walk on the farm and eventually fall behind and let them lead the way, they don't have a clue what's about to happen and just like that it's over.

At least she claims to have talked to a living person. I heard she is a forth cousin twice removed to Joe Biden. These are the one up-manship stories that are told around the camp fire with the Bidens and extended family.

I remember my dad shooting a dog for a guy that just couldn't do it. Old dogs will tell you when it's time. Those are not good days, and I'll still tear up thinking about my old pooches. The one we have now is about half way through her life.

The best would be if they just went to sleep and didnt wake up in the morning.

100% agree. I've had to put down 2 dogs in the last 4 years. If you can find a vet that comes to the house, this is the best method to get through the terrible mindfuck that is losing a best pal.

Agreed. . . had 1 that I had to take in because of old age, the other did pass in the night. Have a little one now at 6 yr, gonna hate that day also.

Buddy Jeff was the go to for putting a dog down, he put down quite a few over the years. He has put his own down, friends, etc. Not that he enjoyed it, it was just part of the life cycle and he was willing to do the hardship for those that needed him.
His last dog, Buck, was a damn good Griffon, 14 years old, didn't hunt the last few years, and when the dog was on his last days, he couldn't keep his bladder etc. Jeff put him down, and said he could never do it again, claims it still haunts him to this day. This dog meant so much more to him than the others, as Jeff had retired and spent every minute with that dog. Said he wishes he could take that back and will not put a dog down ever again.
Feeling bad for an animal that has been dispatched is normal and what separates us from the animals.

What drug do they use to euthanize a dog? I did many Ducks for studies, but pentobarbital paralyzes muscles but animals are still conscious so it's like sophocating while they are still awake. If I was a dog I would vote bullet.
