A elnino a while back. I woke up early hit my fav lake in se nd. I pulled my flip up and cut holes. Still dark out. My shorthair was running around like crazy mainly along the beach. Anyway i get all set up beut sunrise. Bites were so so. The kicker to this story i heard my shorthair drining water like crazy. I opened my shelter and 100 feet away was a open hole she was standing drinking. Ice was 7 8 inches. She is lucky she didnt fall in

Gonna be a few weeks yet...IMO. Even the smaller lakes (Darling/Audubon) looking at temps the next 10 days prolly be 2 more weeks before we have fishable ice.

Fished Audubon Saturday evening. Checked a few areas most were 2-2.5", one access has ~4" and that's where I ended up fishing. Only caught one but was nice to be out.

I am more of a morning shitter, so I think you are confusing my story of how I have drilled into someone else shit hole, as I was drilling the shit was getting augured up to the base of my feet, was a sombitch. But yes, there has been a time of shitting on the ice a bunch of times...

Bring a bucket with a toilet seat. Pack it in, pack it out. Nobody wants to deal with poo on the ice or in a hole. However, I do not drill open old holes unless I know they were mine and no poo.
