is everyone a liar these days? IF fnznfwl's story is the legit one, and it could very well be, that makes those...........

ahhhh crap, never mind...

Yup, I agree with what you were going to say. I thought long and hard before I posted this . Davey Crockett might turn out to be a liar or he might have done the right thing and tried to get the young lad his stand back. Either way I hope it puts the fear of getting caught into every thief in the state.

soon as someone finds the other side of the story please post it or send me a PM

Willow City area, I know the person that posted this and he is a very credible stand up type of guy, Hence the reason I shared this.
The landowner and other locals don't know who the guy is. I dislike thieves and would be happy to see this young hunter get his tree stand back and send a message out to other thieves that you never know where those trails cams are set up so it might be a wise idea to leave other people's stuff alone.

How does he know the landowner?

Can You Help Find This Guy
My cousin had noticed once of his tree stands had went missing on opener of deer rifle. He went to grab his trail cameras on his step dads private (posted-NO trespassing land that he bow hunts) by Willow City, North Dakota. On October 17th 2015 this camera took a picture of the guy in the act of stealing it. If you have any clue to who the man in the picture is, please let me know. He wants his stand back. Thanks!

Are you guys talking about the same stolen tree-stand? This post indicates that someone has it on their Step-Dad's land.

Haha Now I need a good swig because you got me lost. The landowner ,Nor any of the surrounding neighbors know who the person in the picture is. What we do know is that the person in the picture is not the landowner.

I read another side of this on story on FB today but cant find the link. Apparently this guy put up his stand on unposted land earlier this season, then noticed lately that posted signs had been put up. He went back in to take his stand. The post even showed a copy of the receipt when the guy bought the stand.
Sounds like the landowner found the stand posted the land and now it was "theirs"

Shitty part of social media right here, someone can instantly turn perfectly honest individual into a no-good dirty thief with very little effort.

That said, I have no idea how people can put up stands on private land (unposted or not)without letting the landowner know about them

Again, this can't be the same tree-stand IF he had it on his Step-Dad's posted land. IF this is the same tree-stand/situation, then someone is not telling exactly what happened. Unless he doesn't know his stepdad.

I agree, I can't believe someone would leave a stand on unposted land without letting the land owner know. Don't a lot of people post right before rifle season? That said, if I were a landowner, I would've left a note to call him for the stand. He can't just have his land open and then close it and confiscate someone's property.

I'm already in this issue deeper than I want to be so don't shoot the messenger.

I said :
Any word on the missing tree stand yet ? I saw an online rumor on nodak angler that the guy in the picture was the owner of the stand ??

He said:
Can you go on Nodak angler for me and ask the question why this person has a hacksaw in their pocket. I can't login for some reason to make a comment on there. Also I've known the landowner for over 30 years and he texted me on Friday night wondering if I knew who this person was. And I don't think he'd run his name through the mud for an $80 stand. Thank you for putting it out on social media for me. I don't really give a shit if some guy has a receipt showing that he paid for a stand when he is caught on private land. If the guy is off Scott free then I don't understand why he won't call the landowner since he knows that they are looking at him now.

There's another post on FBO in reference to my question. I'm backing away from this issue as I never had anything to gain other than hopefully drive some sportsmanship into some noggins and at this point I'm not so sure that that isn't even going to be a fail. Moral of the story, If it ain't yours don't take it.
