School shootings have been around as long as guns and schools, but I think 90% of it would go away if the media quit sensationalizing the shit out of it, giving troubled teens that idea as an option for crazy behavior.

True. However, I know of no school incident of any magnitude that was threatened prior. And with today’s technology they should be able to know where these threats are coming from within minutes. Yet we never hear of any arrests of these threat makers. And they can secure these schools within minutes without making the public aware. But what happens is these parents think they have to have a by the minute play by play of things happening. All the while the clowns making the threats are laughing their asses off

True. As a parent of two adults and an educator for half my life, I am fortunate to have never had a full blown lockdown occur to me or my family. I can understand the worry. I would have it also.

I experienced one while teaching and to this day know only what I was told in a very limited way. But it was the real deal from the little we could be told. The student was shipped away for help and never seen again. When the system works you don’t hear about it. When the system breaks, or never has a chance to work, is when you read about it in the news.

Many of the 'threats' (swatting) come from overseas and are hard to trace/tougher to prosecute.

If they are stopped that means someone was arrested and prosecuted. We would know about that.
