I may to look into this when they become available. Not for towing this or that but for waving in parades.:::. My better half has always wanted a Jeep. This thing looks cool.

A few days ago we posted an article TFLcar.com regarding some rumors that Jeep CEO Michael Manly made some unofficial comments confirming the world will, in fact, be seeing a Jeep Wrangler-based pickup.
Despite almost a 30-year absence from the pickup segment, Jeep has released at least two pickup concepts, including the Gladiator in 2005, shown in the photo above and to the right.
The Wrangler pickup production has been in the rumor mill since late summer of the previous year.
The 75th Anniversary Special Edition models also differ in terms of pricing, with the Jeep Wrangler and the Wrangler Unlimited priced at $34,575 and $38,375. No, we're not talking about the often rumored, possibly happening mid-engine Corvette, but rather the more humble, Jeep Wrangler pickup truck.

I am now getting real close to pulling the trigger but am really torn between my final 2: A Chevy 5.3 (or 6.2) or a Ford 3.5 Eco. Would like some help making the final decision from those of you that have seen these trucks in action towing a 4000lb boat? Thanks.

Does your boat really weigh that much? Didn't seem like it. In that case, I like my Nissan even more. We drove what, 75mph?

I have an 02 Buick LeSabre with 310,000. The CV joints went out this fall and am remodeling so the garage is full and I don't have room to fix it. $2 gas has helped on fixing this as a priority, but running the LeSabre compared to the Tundra is almost free.

Oh, gotchya.
Why not just buy a cheap work car for driving around every day? That way your new rig will last you for a long long time! Id go find a Buick with a 3800 n lower miles and you'd be good to go for years! My 3/4 hardly ever comes out of the garage in the winter, maybe by 2 or 3 times. And I commute 45 miles one way to work. A front wheel drive with good grippers gets around damn good in the winter.

Jeep used to make some pickups that were pretty cool and built like a brick shithouse.

My sister owned a couple jeeps in a row, they seemed shitty, this was 20 years ago. The full time 4 wheel drive/all wheel drive was a bad idea and that was what she had problems with.

I am looking to buy an older four door car to use for my run around vehicle, I am tired of driving a big heavy diesel on these beat up, bumpy, bounce you to the chiropractor streets we have around here. A vehicle with a new NDA sticker on it would be the cats ass

IMHO, for what they cost, Jeeps are too small. Cherokees are the price of a Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban. Why spend that much money and get a half-sized vehicle? I mean, I drive a half-size vehicle myself, but I only paid half as much. Mid sized, I guess is what they call it.

That Jeepuck looks cool, but it's going to be a minipickup for $38K I bet. ouch.

Up until 2 yrs ago when it finally crapped the bed, I owned a 1978 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I owned it for like 10 yrs. While it is true I put some money into it here and there, that thing was flat out awesome on the snow and ice!!!!! I basically only drove it during ice fishing season. That QUAD R TRAC was without a doubt totally awesome!!!!!! I do not think I ever got stuck(of course in my older years I usually wouldn't go in places where I would venture when I was a know it all young adult). I pulled more than my share of stuck vehicles off the lake. I would be driving by a stuck rig...stop and ask (as they were shoveling) if they would like me to try tow them out..on more than one occasion they looked at what I was driving...a beat up brown Jeep and they would say..ummm.. with that?? hahaha. Yeah..worth a try I would snicker....knowing full well what it would do...I tell you what..quadratrac rules..Since both front tires or both back tires didn't spin together, more criss cross which allowed me to get out of most any situation.
It was a sad day at my home when I had to send it down the road...almost brought tears to my eyes. haha The last couple winters without that thing makes me very sad. haha I have a old beaten up 1994 Ford Exploder that I use now on the lake and that old 1978 Jeep Grand Wagoneer could have eaten this Ford for lunch on the lake.
My better half has always said she would like a Jeep Wrangler so I will for sure be giving this Jeep Pickup a look in a couple years.

There are a couple people in my office that have new grand Cherokee's. They say they are great in snow. But then again they are both city slickers are their jeeps have never seen anything over 4" of fresh snow in their driveways. I would like to take one plowing down badger hole filled, snow covered prairie trial and see how it holds up.

Sluggo I have a old 5.3 and a newer 3.5. Both pull the boat just fine. Of course the ford has more torque. In my opinion buy which one u like the looks of better and that momma likes.

Those old wagoneers are awesome hunting rigs! I agree, crazy where they could go with that traction system!

Looks like those wagoneers still fetch some hefty coin if they are in good shape:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...goneer.TRS0&_nkw=Jeep+grand+Wagoneer&_sacat=0

indeed so! I would make sure a mechanic gave it the once over..or twice over before I would buy an older one again...well a once or twice over with any older used unit for that matter. All's I know is that quadra trac is unbelievable. I am not sure why they did away with them?? anyone on here know? It is true, they were a tank of a machine. And the front hood was long..very long..like front bumper in one county and steering wheel in another long. Sorry for the hijack

That's what I mean, you buy a 1/2 ton and stick a bunch of money into it so you can pull stuff, why not just get a truck that comes that way from the factory? For 45k I can buy a brand new 3/4 ton crew cab diesel that has twice the torque, and warranty.
Just sayin.

Because my 1500 is just as capably now as most and I am still into it for 20-30K less than a new diesel including what I added. Had 16K miles on it when I bought it with factory warranty yet.
I do Have a Cummins for my heavy work but its nice to have a backup for moving all my other trailers. The pic below with the 6 pallets of land scape blocks scaled in at a wee over 38K lbs., the ol Cummins knew it had a load back there on that that trip lol. The 5020 wasn't much lighter, think it was a bit over 36K lbs.
Oh yeah to the one who posted about bed covers, look close mine has one and it does a little bit of dirty work too.:;:stirthepot

Oh Yeah forgot to add the boat / camper photo, the 1500 has both of these behind it a lot of the time in the summer along with a 14 foot PJ dump trailer, just don't happen to have photo proof of it.

Cab layout would be of far greater concern to me than powertrain. They're all adequate and all have mighty respectable longevity given proper maint. Which cab, box, fuel capacity, etc layout works best for your situation. Which one drives/feels the best to you?
