BB are a very relaxing way to locate fish. Once located, Back off and start pitching jigs / swimbaits for the real fun.

The Mustad slow death are my least favorite.
I agree back then there was not much of a choice. I do like super slow death way more bend so hook spins and for using plastic type baits.

Ted Takasaki stated at one of his seminars if he had only one option to fish for walleyes it would be with a bottom bouncer, as nothing produces more fish.

Agreed. Tackle companies don’t strike it rich selling lead weights on a piece of wire and a couple hooks on some line with or without some beads and a blade.

Not sure how much it helps but I pound mine flat so they offer less resistance in the water and stay more vertical at higher speeds.

Anybody remember when the bottom bouncers actually came out? I remember using them in the early 80’s

Who cares what all these wanna be do gooders think. As long as you pay for your license and follow all the rules and regulations, fish the way you want. These big mouths are probably the same ones that fish all of the worthless tournaments and hurt the resource more than any other fisherman!

We got a boat around 75, and we used BB all the time. They were the same as the style as the ones I use today.

I believe that Bob Meter of Meter Tackle is credited with starting the bottom bouncers. At least around here. He lived in Bismarck. 1960’s or so.

Bob Meter used to live near our home. When we went to Canada fishing he gave my dad a bunch of bucktail jigs. We caught lots of fish without bait on them.
