Patience at the ramps, not everyone that owns a boat launches it 3-4 times a week, maybe only twice a month so probably not quite as smooth as many others. But yes, people need to get everything in the boat before even getting in line, not when your backed down the ramp.
Time Wasting activities at a boat ramp:
1. Not having your boat loaded and ready to launch before it’s your turn.
2. Having someone hold your boat @ the launch ramp rather than the courtesy ramp.
3. Clogging a lane upon retrieval by starting to empty your boat without getting out of the way for the next person to be able to use the ramp.
4. Fixing non-functional things while in a launch/retrieval space. Go to the courtesy dock or get it on the trailer and get up and out of the way.
5. Stopping all launch/retrieval progress while Getting/giving a fishing report. Do your yapping when you’ve cleared the crowd. Pretty much nobody cares how or where you caught 75 12”ers today.
6. When you’re in line to launch/retrieve, that’s NOT the time to head for the outhouse. It’s not the time for your partner to head for the outhouse. When you DO use the outhouse, don’t block any lanes headed to or from the launch. Go park and walk back.
7. Cleaning station is another place to keep things moving. If you can’t yak AND clean fish, STFU and clean fish.
All anyone can ask is that you’re ready when it’s your turn and you don’t WASTE time. WASTING time is what’ll heat up the crowd behind you.
If you have an experience level that requires you to back down the ramp slow, take your time and do it right. Then once you’ve launched/retrieved, do your best to quickly completely clear everyone waiting to launch/retrieve.
