Must be kind of sparce, haven't heard a whole lot of bragging and no pictures. I personally have not seen shit for deer. Maybe if the wind would die down some but now with snow storm coming it could get bad. LB

Surprised no one has talked of needing an extended season. Was it 95 or 96 there was a big blizzard the first week of deer hunting and they extended the season?

Most people I have talked to had the issue opening weekend. The deer were tough to find. We walked tree rows, abandoned farmsteads, and low lying dried up water holes. We kicked a doe out of one spot. We did see about 12 deer in total on Saturday but only two were bucks and they were small. I was scratching my head trying to figure out where they were hiding. Fence lines? Out in the middle of fields? I am hoping with the cold and snow on the ground, this weekend will be a little better.

hunted McKenzie County over the opener...no rut activity. When the wind finally shut down one evening (thursday, bow hunting) does were popping up everywhere all around us. Held way tight in the wind....

It was terrible for our group opening weekend as well. Not much moving around at all. Hopefully this cold snap and low temps will get them going good!

I’m sitting on a hill, freezing my butt off right now on the upper souris refuge. Is 4 days I’ve seen 5 deer. It’s been tough.

I saw a couple hundred deer opening weekend. Tagged out Sunday morning by 8:00. All the action was first light in the morning and last 1.5 hour of shooting light. Mine was nothing huge but second biggest whitetail I have taken. Tough to shoot in 45 mph crosswinds though. The buck was herding up about 15 does.

Haven’t even taken the rifle out of the safe yet. :(

Taking Friday off but they are predicting 4 to 10 inches of snow and 35 mph winds tomorrow.
Roads might be blocked 🤬

I thought I read something on here about a guy who heard at a gas station about a guy supposedly shot a new unofficial state record buck. Way back in the cattails someplace. Some breck or bek guy . don't know if they knew each other or not . I looked for that post and I can't find it

I've seen 3 whitetails SW of Mandan about 15 miles. Usually see hundreds spread out in the fields. Any doe tag here, so I'm just waiting until next weekend to shoot a mule deer doe. A bunch of the surrounding landowners are reporting similar numbers. I wish they would have just cancelled the whitetail season all together in the areas that were affected by EHD.

They were deep in the cattails last weekend. Chillin. Day two the wind you had to walk up to them.

The snow will bring em out.

I hunt 3F2 and last year my area(s of algin) didn’t have any signs of die off, this year seems like the population is way down, I’d say by at least 50%. Anyone else seeing this?

Where i am it seems like way less interest in the hunt.

I have a number of food plots and the deer numbers seem to be as good as last year.
Some decent bucks who have been coming up over the last few years and they are a treat to see. Maybe one more year before the harvest and then it seems that one more year never happens. db
