I also must admit that I'm a picky eater. I think it was more about being apprehensive about trying new or different things. I've gotten a lot better as I've gotten older.

I once landed in Germany and watched my employee hit the Subway sandwich shop in a train station full of wonderful sausages, cheeses, breads, pretzels, etc.

One thing I can't do is drink and enjoy a beer with my meal , I like the taste beer but it seems to ruin a meal for me. I do add a splash of beer to what ever I'm cooking once in a while though.

I will not eat squash, candied sweet potatoes, dumplings, raw oysters. Funny thing is I can eat sweet potato fries. I will usually give anything a try once, if I don't like it I won't eat it again. Another thing I dislike is when I go out to eat, they better bring my food HOT, or it is going back to be heated up. A guy can tolerate some not so good food if it is at least hot.

I don't care for chicken. Think I butchered to many of them stinky things as a kid. If I'm at someones house and they serve chicken, I'll eat it and won't say a thing but I really would rather not eat chicken. Chickens are only good for eggs and soup. Water chestnuts I don't care for either but I'll force em down if I have to. I like most vegetables but hate beets and won't eat them. Also don't care for lettuce salad but do like it on burgers, sandwiches, and tacos.

Olives of any kind. Green bell peppers are an abomination. No organs or whole blood like in blood sausage. Other than that, down the hatch.

Beets. Tried one roasted and found it tolerable. And lima beans, plain as a side and canned peas. Other than that, I am good to go- will at least try just about any food but i ain't no Andrew Zimmern.

Funny that a few said jello was off the edible list, I have never understood why it is a state law that a church potluck must have 13 jello salads and that adding celery, carrots, cottage cheese, and such to jello makes it better.

My son is pretty picky and has a strange pallet. He won't eat any fast food (not a bad thing except when traveling). He doesn't like burgers but loves steak, beef or venison. He hates any kind of potatoes including fries but he loves sushi. So weird. I think a lot of it for him is texture and not taste so much.

For me, my pallet had changed as I've gotten older and I can eat most anything except olives.....so gross!
