I've only fished around FFS once and it did help us find more fish I don't feel it helped us catch more fish. I have had many days where I made the ice look like swiss cheese and caught the heck out of various species (accept walleye because I suck at catching those). To me one of the better things ND did was drop the keep limit on gills and crappie, granted now and days we don't eat fish as often with one of my daughters allergic to fish

It be pretty hard to enforce no ffs in Minnesota especially those using them in a ice house or portable since Minnesota dnr need a warrant to enter.

After fishing this tourney this weekend with a couple they help with finding the right structure but you still have to get fish to bite.

That's still not authorization to come in even if you open the door, minnesota dnr have to get permission or a warrant to enter.
I agree if everyone wouldn't brag about the bountiful harvest of slab meat, but some Karen or Chad calls up that dnr hotline or emails the dnr about the success. Dnr gets swamped with complaints and bamb we get the pondering of the possibility of banning. At one time one could use dynamite or electric shock to fill one's bag now look, thats illegal to.

They can do verbal warrant if something is going on. What do most anglers including myself do --- you either invite them in or go outside. Its going to be a pia if they pass something - because your ice prirate next to you (karen) will report ya. Lets hope this and WI just drop it and move foward. Randy Blaukat keeps on jabbin -- hopefully that stays south.

FLW and that new league both put rules into place with restrictions. IMO that makes it worse as the DNR will eyeball this further.

I thought when you get a MN fishing license, there's a spot where you click/acknowledge that you will all DNR to search/enter your ice house without a warrant.

Is this the state that was running whore houses out of the fish houses from way back when?
Or was that the cheesehead fella's?

As someone that has ffs, I’m not sure what to think about it. Down south it is definitely effecting bass and on a larger scale crappie populations is what studies are showing. It’s a wierd deal how these young dudes fresh out of high school are winning BASS Elite tournaments. That alone should tell you something. The big namers and old timers in the sport can’t even complete with them. Not sure how you could regulate something like this for recreational fishing but do agree some limitations are needed for tourney fishing. On the recreational side crappie lakes down south will be toast if something isn’t done

Just lower the limits then. I never have understood why people have to keep a limit of fish every single time they go. I know most don’t eat them all.

I do actually enjoy watching the old tournament anglers cry about not being able to compete with the younger guys. Now the young guys only need to invest in ffs. Unlike in years past when they would have to have a 100k fast boat and 10k+ in other electronics. 3k garmin and a 10k boat gets you somewhere now.

??

They all run about the same boat --- limited to 250hp, they have foward face on the front and the back of the boat --- idk how many transducers, plus big monitors etc. young old and all. For 2025 MLF is only allowing one period of FF, BASS elite series says do whatever you want and some new league where your old timers are going is disallowing it. Old timers will still have a bunch of electronics.

What i see is garmin will slide the breaks a little until this alll settles down.

Sum hit the nail on the head --- crappies and for that matter any fish that suspends (spots) are hit the hardest .
