Didn't the NWT championship last fall have most of the field going 100 miles and I thought it was blowing hard on the first couple of days.

Most of these guys are use to this.

They did. Mobridge to the state line for a couple of them guys. I think some came home with less windshield than when they left.

But point is, the 'local bite' is very, very tough. Any advantage the 'immediate locals' have (the less than 50 Mile folks who are resident experts) really have no advantage. Hence I don't put too much favor on the local advantage with exception they may get more buddy buddy reports out west to put them on the spot on the spot.

Will find out Friday.

Not a lot finesse going on out west. Water temp is several degrees warmer than the other 80 miles of lake. Toss jigs with hair or plain jigs with bait or plastic in 2-6. Or trolling cranks from 2-16 ft. Kieth and boys been spending lots of time out west. Some rippin' might work to find that kicker fish.

I would consider finesse on east end working breaks looking for resting mommas.

Mornin' Ahab.

No, I don't think it is a finesse bite unless you think a finesse bite is pitching jigs/cranks up shallow or trolling cranks. When you catch fish in shallow water I don't consider finesse a requirement. They are active.

Now for Jason with 20 plus bag, don't know what he is doing. Maybe he finessed them by working break type structure?

The guys fishing much closer probably have about four hours per day more fishing time. Obviously there are not as many fish east but some pretty good ones were caught yesterday. put my bets on guys fishing much closer and getting way more fishing time in. I would be puckered up today making a 100+ mile one-way run. Good luck to the locals

Could be dead fish or it could be late. Don't know which. Normally would go with late but when you got guys running 110 miles the fish may be struggling so wouldn't be surprised some were dead fish? Don't know.

That's what I thought too but everyone keeps saying it was east end.

The picture sure indicates Parshall Bay to me

Of course these guys will say east end prior to the tourney, Id like to see this 150 mile run these guys were talking about too, that would put them up by Trenton!

Rusty,
Whose warrior did you ride in? I have been out fishing with Brett King all week going into this and he is running a warrior 208. I don't think any pros are running the 21-21 anymore and that's for a reason. I would recommend the 208 based off the jump seats being in there so you never need extra seats in the boat but that's just me. I'd also run a Yamaha on that thing to ensure the reliability. There is my .02 Good luck in whatever you choose.

I would go 208 as well, I run a 193 and when you have a passenger, livewell, and kicker all on that port side it likes to tilt just a bit. The 203 is set up the same way as my 193. That center livewell in the 208 is a great idea! I heard rumblings the 193 is going to follow in its footsteps but that is not confirmed.

My kid bought a ZV-18 last summer. I'm a huge non-fan of tracker boats. But I have to say it's the best riding boat I've ever been in. At least in the 19' class and below. I can't imagine how well the 21 rides. And the storage is insane. The Warrior storage is nothing in comparison to the Nitro.

You can fit 32 rods in a warrior, 12 footers in the gunnels. and in the 208 you have lots of tackle storage under the jump seats

i was in the 203, 208 and 21-21... the ride in the waves was significantly better in the 21-21... I was in brett's 208, I don't recall the guy's name that had the 21-21, I am not a fan of jump seats, I see their use and such but just not for me. the 21-21 sits deeper in the water than the 208, ice berg style... I was also in the owner of mild 2 wild's 203... Brett is the reason I am going away from the jack plate plan I had and going with trim tabs... I did like the yamaha motor they had, the suzuki has an extra year warranty over everyone else 6 vs 5 and the df 300 reviews are a solid motor... 208, 203, and 21-21 are very good boats I just happen to settle in on the 21-21 due to the ride

I know there was 60 boats that made the run past the bridge this morning... was fun watching them

Whatever you go with, rusty, its going to be a better ride than that Reata. Fishing boat my ass. They could have just put bayliner across the side.

I agree DM... the reata is more of a fair weather cruiser with some fishing stuff added than a fishing boat

Justin Schneider is the one running the 21-21

TBH the reata is why I am not in any tournaments this year... I was not happy with the control and performance, it did teach me what I want in a boat so I guess that is the price I have to pay to play

All the warriors come standard with trim tabs so that isn't something you need to add. I would still had a jackplate if I were you and there are a couple reasons for that. The trim tabs are going to lose you about 2 mph. I prefished for this event with Brett King, Joe Okada and Robert Blosser all who are running trim tabs and all said the same thing about the speed loss. By running a jack plate it will help you to gain a little of that speed back and at the same time will help improve your fuel mileage. Then there is the shallow water improvements if you are ever fishing the river. Like I said they are phenomenal boats and on Monday we were in 6-8 ft waves in Brett's boat and I was truly impressed in the ride.

not true they do not come standard it is an OPTION you have to select... and brett king talked me out of a jack plate... exact words, "it is NOT worth the extra money"... he ran a jack plate on his warrior last year and now has only trim tabs this year for a reason
