i dont think it has worked since day one. Never needed it except one time at mo w/o plug. I know all my breakers are good -- i suppose i need to track it down -- such a pain in the ass to get too.

i actually had a similar thing happen last summer... looked down to check my gps and speared a wave... put about 100 gallons in the boat (waves were not bad that morning just had a random big one) I was very happy my bilge works

Probably something stuck in the pump impeller, many of the pumps allow you twist the motor head and remove it from the pump.

As far as the 18 for Reata, been their done that. The have a bad tendency to spear. You really need to be on your toes in swells. Heck it even takes waves over the bow when running the trolling motor into waves. 20 foot Reata is better but not immune.

I can attest to upright, level floatation in a Ranger 620 FS, and I was extremely thankful for two bilge pumps!! We had a wave roll in the side, over the gunnel while traveling about 5-7mph in last year's Casino tournament on Devils Lake. We didn't spear it, just unlucky timing and had it break right over us. COMPLETELY filled the boat, I had to grab Plano trays to keep them from floating away and set them on the dash - it was the only thing out of the water. Those two bilge pumps kicked in, and nearly an hour later, we were able to get back on plane. We were both wishing there was 3 or 4 of them in there. The boat never lost power, and the expense of sealed/water proof wiring was worth every penny. Crazy day.

Check the automatic/float switch. I had to replace mine last summer.

Always have a couple of 5 gal buckets in the boat. Come in handy for more than a few things, like crapping, bailing and drift sock. Game warden found out the hard way not to open the bucket with the lid on it. HA HA
