Actual photo of the Shiloh kenyan

That kid is definitely tall. However, he had to be constantly groomed to play basketball. The only thing he knew how to do before was run from animals.

Funny story actually; I went to chiro school with a guy from Kenya. He was a sprinter in the 1996 Olympics and then tore his sartorius during prelims. While training in the US, he had to laugh when he would see animals run away from him. "Because in Kenya, they run at you" were his exact words. He said he enjoyed it until this black and white cat didn't run away and sprayed pee on him. It was a skunk. He said he had to shave his head and his US host family wouldn't let him in the house for 2 days.

Farmers should start a program were they recruit southern kids from their winter homes. Then bring them up here to play on those class b teams where no work ethic silver spoon up their butt offspring play. Kind of like Blind Side the movie. JNMOHO classblivesmatterrecrutingfromfarmerswinterhomes

I never played basketball in my home town of Walhalla it was a rich farmers sport. I was a dirty Indian that only found acceptance on the wrestling team.

man what a bunch of cry babies! your team gets beat, either by a religious school or native school, and its not fair? Make more "classes" so your team can be successful? How bout we just don't keep score and EVERYONE wins!!! haaahahhaha!!!! Nobody recruited more than Mandan high girls basketball a few years back. And I guarantee you that there are lots of kids that should be playing for century but wind up at BHS just to play on a "better" team. BHS has had lots of recruited natives on its team over the years also. And I know for a fact there are kids that pulled out of St Marys to go play for either BHS or Century. Its all about athletics, not academics, even in the high school system now. Our priorities are so screwed up................

You just spoke in one huge circle. I'm confused.

You disagreed with everyone and then in the same paragraph you agreed with everyone.

I don't think many people would deny that the class A schools recruit or persuade kids to play for them. When Steve Miller had a down year you could guarantee there would be a few kids from the rez to boost the roster. Amundson was they same in Mandan. For some reason though when you say the private schools do it people flip a lid and will argue to the end that it doesn't happen. The fact is it does, and the true class B schools don't have that option.

If you don't like losing, practice harder.

Or recruit better ;)

If you don't like losing, practice harder.

I don't like to swear but dirtymike gets a Holy Shit because I know why he would say that, not many sports can compare to the work ethic of a wrestler. At least that is what I saw growing up in my small town. Two practices a day plus open gym on Sunday if you had to cut weight for Monday. Some wrestlers compete all year long that is work ethic

Sorry to confuse you. My point is, they all do it, not just the native schools or the religious schools, but nobody is complaining about the class A schools recruiting. Didn't Burlington have a good basketball team a few years back that had a "transfer" kid? Cant remember what school it was, but this topic comes up every year.

My kid practiced as hard as he could to be 6'8" .......he is still only 6'1".

Now if the refs let em play...........a 6'1" 215# calf wrestling kid handles himself pretty well against the tall skinny fellas. :)

It isn't all about practicing harder.

Our Redeemers High school 46??? Hell half of their enrollment is over 6'4" then.:D

I don't think work ethic or practice is an issue. It has to do with talent. If u are more talented and just bigger and more physical you have an advantage.

There are a lot more kids with talent in Bismarck than Zeeland. The bigger the population is the more talent there is.

Population is the reason there is no nba players from north Dakota. Oh and the fact we r mostly white. Haha

If your town is big enough to have a Subway or a stop light, you really aren;t Class B. :)

5 kids all around 6' that have played together their entire lives and have great chemistry on and off the court are much more dangerous than 5 kids pieced together because they're supposed to be good.

I would take 5 nba players when they were in high school over a group of 5 kids that r 6' that have played together since diapers

For some reason they found a need to split up the schools for football as well as having 9 man. I understand roster number requirements are different in the two sports but IMO there is a place for a 3 class basketball system in ND.

well no kidding. But you said yourself, none of these kids are going pro.

I'll let you guys hash this annual parochial school/small town discussion. I don't have a horse in this race and I hope to never have one. I was a wrestler. It was me or the other guy. I HATED losing so I attended camps, made it to every practice, traveled to UMary twice a week to get throttled by two eventual national champions. In the end, I don't have a state championship, but I know I tried my hardest.
