In the past 3 years how many North Dakota deer licenses did you receive in total ? Please be honest.

I goofed up and can't change the topic heading. It should read "Deer license poll" Bow and gun both .

3 bow tags over the last 3 years. filled one of them

i apply mule deer for rifle though, so i am not complaining about not drawing a rifle tag. I understand going in its gonna take 6-8 points. Life's tough, and unfair, get a helmet

3 bow tags for me over the last 3 years.

Apparently I can't math today. My last rifle tag was 4 rifle seasons ago so it doesn't count and for this poll my original answer of 3 is correct.

I'm with Wags on this one. All 3 of my bowtags went unfilled.

I've gotten 6. 3 rifle and 3 bow tags. I always just purchase a bow tag in April when I buy my sportsman's license, but 2 of the 3 years I didn't spend a single day in the stand. This year, I've actually made it out 3 days and am still hoping to get out a few more times.

This year was our big deer numbers year. The hunting in ND now is the new norm.

Davey,
With your 1 tag system, does everyone get 1 tag or do we still have to apply for the certain units and the allotted tag amounts for that unit?

All this thread is going to do is fire up the gun only hunters to shut down OTC bowtags. We have an agency in bismarck that makes decisions on whitetail tags based on nothing and they do not feel coyotes are a threat to a sustainable deer herd. We also have habitat destruction that has and will continue to greatly reduce game populations. The deer are just getting it from every angle.

Guessing units would stay the same , That and surveys seems to be the only handle on herd control for NDGF.

I have been putting in for badlands unit 4C, antlered mule only, and have not been drawn since 2009, so I cant vote cause there aint no zero in the poll.
I did not re-apply anywhere for left over deer tags, its a mule buck or nothing for me.
I am seriously considering getting into bow hunting.

A one tag system that includes a rifle hunting season will only work in states that have enough deer for everyone to get a tag. We DO NOT have that luxury in ND at this time.

Well, with the addition of the MRCC hunt, I've had 10 tags in the last two years plus gun/bow the year prior...So 12 tags. I'm not even going to tell you how many I've filled.

If we are still applying for the certain amount of tags per unit how is it any different than how it is now? Other than the fact that you will cut out the OTC bow tags and add a few more muzzleloader tags to the mix?

Are you looking at this from a "I only get a tag every couple years" or "This will help the NDGF manage the herds better" viewpoint?

Why the G&F does not do mandatory surveys like some other states is beyond my comprehension. You don't fill out your survey for them, you don't get to apply next year. Seems pretty simple to me.

Paper surveys do not work. People either throw them away or answer falsely. Just think how many surveys we all get from cell phone carriers, restuarants etc... nobody likes them or answers them honestly enough to be trusted as a management tool. Now if the NDGF had people calling until the surveys were answered over the phone it would be more accurate but also more costly.

Lincoln, kinda...
Oops, my answer should be 8, not three. I started right out by answering the poll and read the "gun season" thinking, duh.

Doesn't South Dakota send an email survey that must be completed or you cannot apply the following year?
