Yep us too, our first house had no indoor toilets. And we burned wood in a wood stove. LOL

My good plumbing friend says that heat tape will rapidly deteriorate the integrity of PVC pipe making it brittle and subject to breaking so he absolutely does not recommend that. His solution is a homemade sewer skewer, or the www.frostfreesewervent.com device. I personally after last weeks cold snap am now going to order one to try.
