I HATE coyotes!!!!

The fur is getting better every day now. I've heard right in the $40 range for a good finished coyote. That is skinned, fleshed, stretched and dried. If you can do a decent job skinning and fleshing, especially the face, it's nice to send a few off to be tanned to donate to benefits and silent auctions. They sell well as wall hangers.

It's dumb. I think it's maybe for deer poaching concerns, but let's be real, anyone lawless enough to poach is going to do it anyway, and those that are not won't be tempted into it because they see a big buck during a coyote set.

Yeah, that is the NDGF way. Probably the greatest example of proactive prevention of poaching are the paddlefishing regulations and now the "one can't zipper fish at the cleaning station because each chunk now counts as a full fillet".

Two sessions ago I had a senator introduce a bill that would have allowed for furbearers and non-game animals that already have a firearms season on them to be hunted at night. Passed the senate but failed in the house. Didn't get much support from predator hunters. It's probably time to give it another shot but they have to hear support from the public or it won't go.

Well, assuming you're already set up for daytime hunting (rifle, e-caller), and you just want to add thermal...
It's getting cheaper all the time, but as with anything, you get what you pay for, and higher resolution sensors (better picture) and additional features (video recording, ranger finder, etc) cost more.

The first time you try to go out and scan with just your rifle scope, you're going to find out that you need a handheld scanner too. Looks like the low end for those is about $500: https://www.opticsplanet.com/thermal-imaging-monoculars.html?_iv_sort=lowest-price

Now those are just the very cheapest you can get, and have the lowest resolution sensors (256), which means the worst image. IMO, you can get away with 384, but you want 640. The lowest price I'm seeing on a 640 units is about $2000. Double that to add a 640 scanner, and you're at about $4,000.

I also highly recommend a good tripod for your rifle. Those can be anywhere from like $200 to $1500.

Pretty sure if you have permission from a private landowner (especially one with livestock that they'd like "protected" from predators) you're allowed to night hunt predators prior to that 11/25 date. Probably best to call G&F on that but I heard it from someone I'd consider a reliable source.

No Bobcats or Mt Lions in ND w/NV or thermal equipment either. Bummer.

I went inverted leg FatBoy w/leveling head instead of ball head. Buddy has the RRS like yours. Haven't played w/either enough to have an opinion beyond they both seem to work well enough to get the job done.

A bit off subject, but, pulling in to Fargo ~11PM on 10/23 there was a coyote standing on the Eastbound I-94 off ramp for 25th St basically right behind Ruby Tuesday. I was somewhat surprised to see it there, especially up on the ramp/pavement vs. down in the ditch.

I'm just happy they made the bolt handle swappable. Pretty much the only reason I bought it.
I have no issues with ejecting brass across my face on a bolt gun. With ARs it's less pleasant due to the gas that comes with it.

I am really interested in those Savage Straight pulls, was playing with one at Scheels one day and became even more intrigued. I put a Boyds Agility on my 7mm and will be going with Boyds for some other up and coming gun projects, especially with the adjustability for my daughters.

a guy I know near town just had his two dogs beat up pretty bad...well one. He's got goats and apparently the yotes came in the yard last night. German shorthair got torn up pretty bad. Spending day at vet for work. The Blue healer hung in there pretty good per camera I guess. Time for Great Pyrenees.

There is a dead Coyote about 50 yds west of the 25 st overpass. I just saw it today.

We have plenty of coyotes in the FM metro and a few canis latrans as well.
