Lincoln, kinda...
I just looked at the National map of which states recreational is legal, it very closely mirrors the Red and Blue map of our political divide, and appears to be creeping inward. Maybe it’s just coincidence?

Personally, I think what you are seeing is moderate conservatives being pissed at the far right, which allows voter initiated measures like we have seen in ND a better chance of passing.

ND passed medical MJ a few years ago and the dickhead legislature decided they knew best and gutted it to the point it wasn't even close to the intent of the voters. Keep doing shit like that and the Republican party WILL BE the minority in ND. I am pretty damn conservative and don't think this is something worth dying on my sword for going forward.

I get that it isn’t an exact comparison. The point I was trying to make is the people who would do the things others are worried about are going to do it if it’s legal or not.

Cannabis has a variety of uses outside of just recreation. I don’t care about “partying” one bit. I personally know probably a dozen people, good, hardworking dads who have tried cannabis to help them sleep and deal with anxiety issues. It’s hard to accept that a plant with no side effects is illegal, but prescription meds that often make things worse are considered ok.

I get that most dudes don’t like to talk about stuff like that, but majority of people I know have, or are dealing with stress related issues. Personally, I sometimes wreck myself with the amount of pressure I put on me and at times would just like to quiet my brain and sleep and I know I’m not alone in that.

The issue is, currently if someone gets a medical card, they are unable to purchase or own firearms. In the measure there is a section that maintains firearm rights to those who use cannabis lawfully.

TLDR: people want to be able to manage anxiety, chronic pain, sleep in a way with very few, if not no side effects and still be able to hunt when not using it.
MJ is not side effect free. Sometimes it makes anxiety worse, but if cigarettes and alcohol are legal why not MJ. Also smoking NJ is not good for your lungs. Eating it or oils are the safest forms.

2022 and people are still scared of a little marijuana. Comical. I don't smoke, but I don't care if you do. Legalize and tax it. There's already SHITLOADS of it coming through the area.

For what it's worth, the local dispensaries are selling low quality garbage. The patients are not getting what they need. It's beyond a joke for what they are selling and what the prices are. Complete ripoff.
And that just drives people to the black markets just as much as before. The weed black market is still pretty big in legalized states. The state is not collecting off of them….

Has anyone gotten a vote no on measure 2 card in the mail ? I thought I'd have a few by now but not a one yet. I read that the majority of organizations that were apposed in the past took a neutral stance this time. Very little opposition compared to the past.

I havent seen as much opposition as I was expecting. I wonder if people realizing it is inevitable and have given up fighting?

I think people are starting to realize it's not that big of a deal if it passes.

Could be wrong, I guess we'll see.

All the big business that lobbied hard against previous cannabis measures have accepted it will eventually happen and they would rather control how it happens than fight it indefinitely. This measure mirrors a bill passed in the ND state house and is written to address far more big business lobby concerns than previous measures. Therefore, they are publicly opposed to the measure but not investing large sums to fight it as this measure is less objectionable to them than others.

I'd be curious to know how many people who are on the fence will vote based on the fiscal notes that are provided.

From what I can tell, Jason Wahl provided the fiscal information but conveniently omitted the main ingredient , the estimated tax revenue. I don't understand how or why the data he provided can be estimated but tax revenue not. I have a feeling this will be a close vote and this alone could be the deciding factor. Doesn't this seem like another ploy to pull the wool over voters eyes ? or am I out of line thinking that ?

the last couple trips to Vegas really had me not wanting legal weed rooting through the streets, alleyways, smoking areas, etc. That effn skunk smell everywhere down there is really a trip ruiner.

Stayed at the Stratosphere a couple years ago (really run down boarder line shit hole), the elevator must have been the smoking lounge, couldn't get away from the skunk.
I don't care how high a pot head needs to get, I just don't want to smell it every place I go.

And I'm just the opposite I absolutely love the smell of Mary Jane, even though I won't use it anytime soon. The possibility of becoming a grow house during my winter lay off is tempting if a guy could get a growers license.

Another thing that's frustrating to me is the misinformation that some want to tell us that mj use will keep increasing over time especially in our adolescent population. That simply is not true there are all kinds of articles one can investigate to find out the use of mj in the those adolescents is going down not up. I'm not going to post any articles becuase just like any other topic it won't make a damn difference if I did. The adolescents are the only group who are the most vulnerable to any type of drug and should be educated so that they don't. Everyone else smokem if got em

Geez you'd think the supporters of the bill would have made voters aware of this, it's a BIG deal. I very seldom listen to radio or watch much local TV so I haven't noticed one single ad about measure 2 . I'd forgot about the Andrew Sadek case, sad deal. LEO should never put kids in a vulnerable position like that. I too voted early and voted yes.

Ive seen pro M2 ads on both facebook and youtube, but nothing anti so far. The fiscal note was BS and likely very politically motivated, doubtful Jason Wahl did that without external influences playing a role.
