My wife and I are headed to Fort Meyers this spring. Hopefully take in some fishing between the twins and red sox games. Everything is expensive. I think we'll fly into orlando then rent a car.

We did the fly in to Orlando(allegiant) and rent a car for a week in Daytona 2 yrs ago. Flight was cheaper than the car rental..cripes is it expensive.

This is very interesting. This Korean has power. 50+ homers last couple years. But who knows if it will translate into in the MLB.... With a bid like that, more than likely twins have done there homework and he will sign with them. Having Sano, and hopefully Vargas turns into a beast that he showed signs of at times. That's a lot of 'ifs' BUT can you imagine the Twins with that power? Looks like they are looking to move Sano to the outfield. He is not a career 3rd baseman, so it's that or DH. If Vargas makes it up he's a DH. Korean is 1st Baseman. I'm sorry Doug Mienkiewitz, I mean Joe Mauer but you gotta go. Take your 7 homers at 1st with you, or please go back to catcher.

If if they move Sano to outfield, they must like Plouffe at 3rd. With all the outfield talent, hicks, buxton, arcia, Rosario's cannon arm had good year, Santana seems better suited for outfield but, along with decent up n coming infielders...... I expect the twins to use this abundance of good looking position players to make some off season moves to get PITCHING!! I feel like this off season or next season might/should have some acquisitions coming. Should get more interesting! Looking forward to it!

Hopefully. Not too worried about him being nishioka bad though. If I remember right, nishioka had a career year b4 he came over but nothing great b4 that, and he was just a slap bunt type hitter. Think the twins paid like 3.5 mill for the rights.
This korean has consistently gotten better, batted 340, 52 dings, but he did have 160 k's according to the report. N teams seem to think a lot more of him as twins shelled out 13 mill for his rights.
His teamate who went to pirates, think pirates paid 11mill but not sure, batted 285, 15 homers, b4 he got hurt. Just a comparison that doesn't mean a lot.
Maybe he will suck but I like the upside and like seeing the twins take a chance on him n hopefully bring some power in. I like Mauer and he still gets on base and decent amount of doubles but he his hurting the team at first base. Time to move on. Trade him and a prospect for a pitcher. Maybe they shoulda saved the 13 mil for a pitcher but that got us what: Nolasco, and a guy who even with steroids and a fresh arm still sucked.

I just can't see anyone taking on Mauer's salary to play first base. He's got a no-trade clause too I believe, not that he wouldn't waive it necessarily.

Huge Twins fan here. I think the biggest impact to making them better would be to get pitching. I think they have the D and good run support most games now. Their biggest problem is giving up 6 or more runs every game. I heard something the other day indicating the Twins had the fewest strike outs in all of the majors this year. This is not softball. Let's get some pitching!

Right, but he did this in Korea. Not the MLB. We hope it translates to the US, but it doesn't happen very often.

They need to start developing young arms instead of trying to trade for success.

I have a suspicion that Ryan is going to call Billy Beane and say I will give you Kepler/Hicks and Berrios for Sonny Gray.

Too late, hicks is gone. Like I said, they had to make moves to get rid of some outfield. Was hoping those moves woulda been for pitching though. We got nothing in the farm system cuz berries is in the majors come start of season. Hicks was starting to show better hitting n power. Don't really like this move.... The guy they got doesn't impress me much and was hoping having three first baseman would force Mauer back to catcher (but yes I knew better than that)

Pitching, pitching and more pitching. Look at the Mets and Royals, what do/did they have? Piching. Along with most of the other playoff teams. Good to see some big bats on the roster though. Hope the Korean can slug away at pitches in the 90's vs. the mid 80's he was mostly seeing.

Agreed on hicks in NY. He was finally showing life in MN after the pressure he had here. He won't handle the pressure in NY to produce. And yes, pitching is key. Look what happened to Toronto unbelievable lineup. We have plenty of position talent and need to trade that for pitching. Hence, why I hate the hicks trade. Pair him n Santana or someone for pitching. Pitching is key, but I still like the gamble on the Korean. Just gives us more prospects to trade hopefully. And it helps Rick Anderson is gone so maybe we can teach pitchers not to suck as much.....

Well, the 25 man roster is set. For better or worse, here we go.

And for the record, I'm not all ok with this pitching rotation and pieced together bullpen.

I can't wait for the season to start. The starting rotation has been doing really good in spring training this year. Park has been hitting good so far. They moved Sano to the outfield, they needed to find a spot for him with Park as DH, Mauer at 1st and Plouffe at 3rd. I honestly think they will be really good this year, they should get a wild card spot but I could see them winning the division. Indians will be tough this year, their starting rotation is pretty stacked. Royals will be good but not as good as last year. Go Twins!
