Sometimes we inadvertently elect the wrong people. The R or D behind them doesn't always mean what we think it does.

I have never missed the poles at election time, but I know I have voted for people because of the R, when I know nothing else about them, and have held regret a time or two.

Also GST is long winded, sometimes over excitable, but at least he is passionate, and tries to defend and explain himself, even sometimes, rarely, but sometimes funny...haha

I would be bored shitless if everyone on here held hands and never had a different view.

This is what prompted some in law enforcement to support this bill with legislators.

Police presence was strong during a protest in September at a Dakota Access Pipeline construction site near Glen Ullin.

A judge dismissed the criminal trespass charges against three pipeline protesters halfway through their jury trial this morning.

According to lawyers in the courtroom, the judge found the prosecutor had not shown the land was posted or that the protesters had been asked by an authorized person to leave — at least one of which is required to prove criminal trespass.

On Friday morning, a jury was picked and the prosecutor put five highway patrolmen on the stand. After that, the three defense attorneys motioned to get the cases dismissed.


Kent Morrow, who represented one of the women charged, said in an interview after court that the patrolmen testified to people being on private property, but not to anyone with authority over the property telling them to leave.

"The judge said the law and statute is pretty clear," Morrow said.

In his defense, Morton County State's Attorney Brian Grosinger argued in court that the protesters should have known the land was private.



"What I had argued to the judge was I could prove notice by circumstantial evidence," Grosinger said in an interview. "By the circumstances surrounding — considering it was a construction site, the people were wearing masks."

The three Dakota Access Pipeline protesters were among 22 people arrested at a construction site near Almont on Sep. 13. According to an affidavit filed with the charges, a highway patrol captain "advised the protesters they were protesting and subject to arrest."


Bruce Nestor, a Minnesota-based attorney representing some pipeline protesters, recently got three trespass cases from the same day dismissed on similar grounds after filing a motion.

Watching the trial today, Nestor said: "This was the same thing, except here the state wasted the judge's time, the jury's time and brought six highway troopers in from their normal duties to spend half a day at the Morton County Courthouse."

Grosinger said he would work to prove notice more adequately in future trials.

I mentioned this earlier in this thread that a friend in law enforcement who spent a lot of time at Cannonball was frustrated. Arrest protesters for trespass and then watch them get off.

Looked at the legislature site and they have not caught up yet with what has transpired with this Bill. From scuttlebutt I'm hearing:

Committee work resulted in the creation of a pilot project in which an electronic registry would be created for five counties selected by the Governor. The registry would designate land for hunting, land closed to hunting, and allow landowners to provide contact information to prospective hunters. The committee gave the bill a do pass recommendation on Feb. 17.[/FONT]

They should have had every cop with a body camera so that when a little dumb bitch blows her arm off you have concrete proof it wasn't your guys.

They should have had every cop with a body camera so that when a little dumb bitch blows her arm off you have concrete proof it wasn't your guys.

I agree 100% with the body cameras Dean and I'm sure a lot of footage does exist but I don't agree that it was the cops holding the line that were stupid, Someone was making the decisions around there but it wasn't them. Put yourself in their shoes out in the elements with a bunch of up to no good fools in their face calling them pigs all day long then log on a fishing website and get called an idiot. They were puppets on a string that were told how to handle the situation and what equipment to use , All they were was a number. They deserve more credit than what you give them.

I'm not narrowing it down to just the guys on the line but to the group as a whole! Past the first week they have no excuse in not making sure they have their bases covered! They needed to be crossing their eyes and dotting their T's!

Ah dean, you are letting your personal animousity get the best of you. Accusing someone of being "full of shit" insinuates untruthes or unfactual information. Unless you can actually show that to be the case, it will seem as though you are the one here "full of shit".

It seems from your posts here you like to assume the authoritarian role in most all topics, especially anything related to this protest so a reputation of being "full of shit" from not being able to show where someone you accused of being "full of shit" is actually "full of shit" will cause people to think instead of being an authority on much of anything, that you are instead simply "full of shit".

So please if you would Mr. Nelson, to avoid people thinking you are "full of shit", please show where I am "full of shit".

Hey dean, next time you are hunting down in that area, why don;t you run your views on cuddling up with HSUS to defeat who you have labeled the "enemy" (which are some of the ranchers in the area who support this bill) by some of those ranchers?

Maybe share how you think the LE that have been on the front lines there are bumbling idiots as well.

I know a few of those ranchers right down around there, it would be interesting to hear their response to you.

Well considering that he has triggered around a 95% increase in posting the site owners probably love it. They were only getting a couple posts a day there for awhile.

I surprisingly never got the boot, which is odd being I put some pretty risqué avatars on the board. I did have Tim pm me a couple times about it. I also always used the word booger a few times.
