What are some of the expressions you use while fishing? We all have 'em. One that tends to come up for us every time I'm fishing with certain buddies is "tight lines" ... whether we are getting skunked, or hammering 'em, the go-to expression for 'be ready' is "tight lines! tight lines!".

For my fish-on expession ... one of my best friends and I always yell "BAM!"

I usually just grin and chuckle - on occasion a low key "here we go" or "yep"

This is because enslow taught me that hollering "OH YEAH!... OH MY GOD!!... YES! NICE FISH ON!!!" is in bad form. And attracts pirates.

"we are angling now" or
"get the pistol" as in this sum bitch is so big it needs to be shot before it can come on the boat which generally is not the case as we dont have very many halibut here but is still fun to say

I usually just say "fish." When I've been out-catching my father in law 10-1, I don't make a peep.

Usually try to play it low key. No swinging the net around or yelling for the same reason mentioned by guywhofishes. Even better if you can slip a nice one in the boat without your fishing partner even noticing.
