I have literally no idea what that article is about because it's not even possible. The legislature hasn't even crossed over so no bill has even had the chance to be voted on by both side let alone head to the governor!

The bill was definitely killed 17 to 28 like previously stated.

we need to castrate then next jackass that introduces this bill

I would prefer castrating the jackasses who keep causing this issue to come up. There are a lot of landowners that don't mind people hunting on their land until someone abuses the privilege. Then we all get lumped into the group of 'hunters have no respect." I have never been in an argument with a landowner. Most have been very cordial, not all give permission, but are generally cordial. There have been a couple of times in my 50+ years of hunting that I have ended up in an area where I had no permission to be. Never intentional but in the wrong. I would never think I had the right to argue with the landowner. I am going to be as polite and apologetic as possible. I am not going to look for excuses like "it's not legally posted" or "I saw your poster but it wasn't dated". We all know that's BS and whether it's legally posted or not we all know the landowners intent. The more we do our part, the less likely we will have to fight this issue. Acting respectfully when in the wrong has at least left the landowner realizing that i did not intend to trespass and i'm pretty sure when I left they at least had the feeling that "he was a decent guy who just got confused."

Whether land is posted or not, I do prefer to visit with the landowner if possible. What we really need is a readily available method of knowing who to contact. I've heard of apps that have this info. Has anyone ever used one and are do they have the necessary info? County atlases are expensive and kind of useless. At 50 some counties, having all the county atlases would be a sizable investment plus the info isn't all that helpful.

We need to do what we can to make sure the landowners know that most of us are not their enemy and do what we can to make sure those who are causing problems don't become the norm. Mention is frequently made that those of us who live in towns and cities wouldn't want someone in our backyard, That's true although not exactly comparing apples to apples. Someone walking across my farm, 15 miles away from where I live, isn't the same as my backyard. Walking the rows of trees around a farmyard where the farmer lives is exactly the same as walking in my yard. Treat all farmland as if it was your backyard and maybe we will eliminate this issue.

Unfortunately, the world has too many assholes that cause all of us a problem.

This bill simply allows law enforcement to write a ticket requiring the payment of the fine much like a traffic ticket.

There are a few bills that were crossed over early that have been voted on by both houses.

lets clarify really... it makes it so you can pay the ticket of $250 just like a traffic offense. however, you are still entitled to a trial by jury if you choose to exercise that right since it is still a class B or A misdemeanor. frankly, i think this just lightened the consequences instead of stiffening them like we all wanted. now you don't even have to appear in front of a judge. just get your ticket and pay your ticket. since the court costs alone for class B misdemeanors is already $225, this certainly doesn't appear to stiffen the penalties by much. only thing i can think of is in a situation like DAPL, they could've written tickets and hoped everyone paid them rather than clog up the court system with 150 people who got the same charge on the same day. am i reading this wrong? i referenced it earlier in one of these threads and nobody responded. i think it was in the other one and it probably got lost in all of the productive back and forth banter that was taking place.

just read it again... since it seems to apply to 2nd and subsequent offenses with are class A misdemeanors, it definitely lessened the consequences because court costs alone for class A misdemeanors are $300.

WTF just happened?

I think it is for the first time offense. But how will this not require written permission to be carried at all times? Is the LE going to call and track down the landowner to see if you have verbal permission prior to writing the ticket?

it is in a subsection listed right under the subsection talking about it being a class A for 2nd and subsequent offenses. to be honest, i am confused and don't know what to think. all else appears to remain the same. no?

If you're confused by trying to interpret what the hell it means, I'm not even going to read the dam thing.

they aren't prosecuting these people and throwing the book at em. that's all that really needs to be done here. it's exactly like passing more gun laws because they aren't enforcing the existing ones.

this bill that passes is regarding "posted" land
