MSA started a thead a few years back on catching your own bait. ive been hooked ever since. there a spots i have in town for suckers( cut bait) and creek chubs. I almost have more fun creek chub fishing than fishing for larger fish now.

I have never done that, but I think I would enjoy it as much as you do.
